Tomato Salsa

Salsa, literally means a sauce. Whereas the basic tomato salsa is simply chopped fresh tomatoes, onions, chillies and coriander leaves, perfectly seasoned with salt and brightened with a dash of lemon juice, this recipe gives you an elevated salsa with the added flavours of bell peppers, garlic, jalapenos, tomato ketchup, tabasco sauce and black pepper. It is super healthy as it is low in calories and high in flavour. Tomatoes, onions and lemon juice are all rich sources of Vitamin C, and since is eaten raw, helps in it’s absorption too. A perfect dip for chips, topping for your pizza, in your burrito bowls, in tacos, in fajitas, in quesadillas and what not?? So what are you waiting for? Ingredients

  • Tomatoes 80 gms

  • Onions 80 gms

  • Bell Peppers 20 gms

  • Jalapenos 10 gms

  • Garlic minced 10 gms

  • Coriander Leaves 10 gms

  • Lemon juice 5 ml

  • Tomato Ketchup 5 ml

  • Tabasco Sauce 5ml

  • Salt and Black pepper for garnish

Directions

  • Combine chopped onions and garlic with chopped tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, coriander leaves, tomato ketchup, tabasco sauce and lermon juice. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before using.
  • Serve as a dip or a condiment. Salsa can be stored in refrigerator for 2-3 days.

Chef’s Twist :-

Make a chunkier and less saucy version of the salsa and you have another Mexican dip called Pico De Gallo. Pico de Gallo can be used in Mexican sandwiches, burritos and fajitas.
